The department called it an example of the "legalization of illegal actions" of Israel and a violation of UN Security Council resolution No. 2334.
The ministry noted that Israeli settlements on Palestinian lands are the main barrier to resolving the conflict in the region.
“Turkey, together with all the responsible members of the international community, will continue to uphold the independence of Palestine and the legitimate rights of its people,” the statement said.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Washington no longer considers Israeli settlement activity a violation of international law. Israeli authorities welcomed this decision.
