It was when the older man was asleep the night between Sunday and Monday that he heard something in the kitchen. He thought it was the home service and went out there to check out - then he was met by three masked men.
- There were three masked perpetrators searching through boxes and safes. The man says he saw that they had an ax with them, says Thomas Boking, Chief of Police Karlskrona.
The perpetrators should not have threatened the elderly man with the ax, but the police believe it was used to smash a window.
"They had broken the window pane and reached in and opened the door," says Thomas Boking.
It is currently unclear what the thieves got with them, but a police report of serious theft by burglary has been established. On Tuesday, a technical examination was conducted and a hearing will be held with the man.
