In recent days, Polytechnic University in Hong Kong has been occupied by protesters. On Tuesday, the AP announced that there are now about 100 protesters inside the university who are now surrounded by police and who have arrested those who try to leave campus.

During the night to Tuesday, Hong Kong's leadership commented on the protesters.

- The first is to get a peaceful solution to the greatest extent possible. That goal can only be achieved with the full cooperation of the protesters. It also includes the insurgents, says Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam and continues.

- They must stop the violence, hand over their weapons and come out calmly and quietly and follow the instructions of the police.

China Expert: Risk of More Violence

Gustav Sundqvist is Associate Professor of Social Sciences at Mälardalen University. In SVT's Morning Studio, Sundqvist says he believes in increased violence before peace can be close in Hong Kong.

- There is a risk that it will be more violent before it gets better, says Sundkvist.

Sundqvist says that those who now live in Hong Kong feel that the protests have become too violent, but that there are more people who think that the police have gone too far.

- There is a large proportion of Hong Kong residents who think the protests have become too violent, about 40 percent. But it is up to 70 percent who believe the police are too violent.
