A 17-year-old girl has been reported missing by her relatives who have not been able to contact the girl since Thursday.

- We are holding hearings, examining phones if there are any opportunities to find her that way. An investigation has gone out, says Sten Rune Timmersjö, head of the police department for serious crimes in Fyrbodal.

Do you suspect any crime?

- Not at this time. It's far too early to say. The parents are obviously worried and so are we. We hope she hears and announces that she is doing well.

The police want the public's help with observations or other information about the girl's disappearance, the police write on their website.

Search efforts have been completed

On Monday evening, the NGO FIKK organized a search for the girl.

- We had 72 volunteers divided into 14 groups that have searched 10 different segments in Uddevalla, they have not made any findings, says Patrick Cohen, intervention manager at FIKK.

During Monday night's search effort, a pair of shoes were found in a forest area, not so far from the center where the 17-year-old girl was last seen. The police have now blocked off an area where the discovery was made.

"We do not currently know if the shoes belong to the missing girl, but at the moment the unit for serious crimes is investigating the case," says Helene Jigebrink, on-duty investigative leader at the police in Western Fyrbodal.

Police: "We have nothing to go on"

Missing people have also paid attention to the case. The police state that it is difficult to take any concrete action before they have had something to go on.

- You wait for information that can lead to what to do. We can't just run right out into Uddevalla and search. That resource does not exist. It's just to note that we must have something to go on before we can start a search operation. There are no traces, nothing that indicates where this person is, says Stefan Gustafsson, press spokesman for the police in the West region.
