The planning of the Vansta industrial area where the Binomen Free School is located is in full swing. The purpose is to establish a fuel station, car wash, shops and restaurant in the area.

Now the school is being threatened by the closure because it does not fit into the new detailed plan.

- There are other schools located in similar areas so I do not understand why it would be a problem here, as there are not even noisy industries here, says Christina Forsberg.

Waited 12 years for permanent building permit

The Binomen Free School is Nynäshamn's only free school with 40 pupils in year f-3 and four teachers. In addition, according to the school, 150 children are in line to get started in the business.

The school has had three temporary building permits over the years, all of which have expired and now you can not apply for more. But already in 2006, the school applied for a permanent building permit from the municipality, the answer came twelve years later, 2018.

- They said that we had not filled in the application correctly and therefore it cannot be a permanent building permit, says Christina Forsberg, rector of Binomen.

There is still hope for the school

Now there is an assignment to change the detailed plan for the industrial area so that the school can remain, says Harry Bouveng (M), municipal council in Nynäshamn municipality.

- If that plan is appealed by the County Administrative Board or someone else I cannot answer, but the goal is for the school to remain, says Harry Bouveng (M).
