The now suspected man was active on the board of both the Christian Democrats Karlskrona and the sports association Sillhövda AIK. In February 2018, it was discovered that both associations' accounts were emptied of money, and that a total of around SEK 800,000 disappeared. The suspicions were directed at the then active KD politician.
But it would take a year and a half before the police could assign an investigator to the case. Since then, interrogations have been held with the affected associations, and various supporting documents have been provided to substantiate the suspected crimes. And now the investigation goes on.
- We have a scheduled interview with the suspect. It will happen in the near future, says Joel Holmgren, prosecutor in the case.
How the investigation then goes on, and how extensive the work can be, he cannot answer at present.
- It all depends on what information the suspect provides. We have one side of the story, and now we want to hear the other. Then we get to see how much the stories fall apart, and that will determine how much investigative action will be needed, says Joel Holmgren.
