Hama Amadou, who returned to Niamey on Thursday after three years in exile, was arrested on Monday morning. He still has eight months in jail to serve after being sentenced in a case of child trafficking.

It is, accompanied by his lawyer, Master Mossi Boubacar, that Hama Amadou presented himself to the brigade of the national gendarmerie of Niamey very early this Monday, November 18 in the morning. From judicial sources, he had been summoned the day before to report to the brigade.

In the morning, Hama Amadou arrived at Filingué Prison, located 180 km north of Niamey. The same prison where he was detained before his medical evacuation in France in 2016.

Since the day of his arrival, his lieutenants have affirmed it, Hama Amadou will put himself at the disposal of the justice of his country. Today, it's done, the procedure has been respected.

Towards a presidential pardon ?

How long will Hama Amadou stay in prison? This is the main question everyone is asking in Niamey. For many of his lieutenants, and even in the presidential movement, many believe that Hamad Amadou will benefit from a presidential presidential pardon. A reserved area and the only discretionary power of the President of the Republic, Mahamadou Issoufou.

The two men spoke earlier in the weekend by phone. Hama Amadou received a call from President Issoufou Mahamadou in the middle of the morning, who extended his condolences. According to the opposition MP Soumana Sanda, it is the first lady, Malika Issoufou, accompanied by the Prime Minister's wife, who served as an intermediary between the two politicians and who passed to Hama Amadou her husband in phone.
