Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah said yesterday that no one would go unpunished if found guilty of assaulting public money.

"We are in a state of constitution, law and institutions that guarantee everyone the right to resort to the judiciary in the face of suspicions of corruption or abuse of public funds," the emir said in a live broadcast to the Kuwaiti people.

He said: "We reaffirm our keenness on public funds, and our commitment to the duty to protect their sanctity. We also affirm that no one, regardless of his status or status, will get away with impunity if he is found guilty of assaulting public money."

He added: «I am sick and hurt in light of the events in the region and developments to see this exchange in the media and social networking and the exchange of accusations and abuse».

He stressed that the file of anti-corruption will be subject to follow-up personally.

He pointed out that the Constitution of Kuwait «provides that citizens are equal before the law in public rights and duties, and that the accused is innocent until proven guilty».

He continued: «Since this issue is now considered by the judiciary, it must stop addressing it in the media, pending the rule of our judiciary, known for its independence and integrity».

The Emir of Kuwait stressed «We will not allow what threatens the security and stability of the country and enter the maze of chaos», adding «I call everyone to wisdom and deliberation and commitment to the values ​​of the Kuwaiti people».

The emir's speech comes after Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak submitted a letter apologizing for not accepting the post of prime minister.

Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak said that the reason for his apology is «false fabrications that affect him», stressing the need to acquit him in court.

In the same vein, the Emir of Kuwait issued an order to relieve the ministers of defense and interior from their positions in the caretaker government.

The Emir of Kuwait instructed Foreign Minister Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to run the affairs of the Ministry of Defense.

The emir of Kuwait, before the resignation of the government, last Thursday, two days after the National Assembly submitted a motion of no confidence in Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid al-Jarrah al-Sabah.
