Deputy head of the FSIN Maksimenko wrote a letter of resignation

“According to my information, Maksimenko wrote a report on his resignation,” Interfax quoted him as saying.

Melnikov noted that management has not yet made a decision.

He expressed the hope that if the official leaves his post, his course on the openness of the department will continue.

Maksimenko was appointed deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service in April 2016. He is an honorary employee of the penal system.

In October, President Vladimir Putin fired the head of the FSIN Gennady Kornienko.
