Former Lebanese Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi has asked that his name be withdrawn from circulation as one of the candidates for the presidency of the Lebanese government.
The leaks about the possibility of assigning Safadi to form a government has angered Lebanese demonstrators, who are demanding in their movement for nearly a month to bring down the entire political class, accusing them of corruption and inability to resolve living crises.

According to sources close to the government who declined to be named and local media, overnight on Friday, an agreement between the caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri, the Free Patriotic Movement led by Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Hezbollah and Amal Movement, to name Mohammed Safadi (75). But Safadi said in a statement: "I considered it difficult to form a homogeneous government supported by all political parties to enable it to take immediate rescue measures that put an end to economic and financial deterioration and respond to the aspirations of the people on the street."

He added: "Accordingly, I ask to withdraw my name from circulation as one of the names put forward to form the next government, and I hope that Prime Minister Saad Hariri will be entrusted again to form a government."
