Rafael Nadal (N.1 world) "is well and very eager to play," said Sergi Bruguera, captain of the Spanish team for the Davis Cup (18-24 November), Sunday in a press conference at Madrid.

"Honestly, he is in one of the best periods of his career, he is thrilled to play this Davis Cup, he is well and very eager to play," assured Bruguera.

Rafael Nadal (33), eliminated in group stage at the London Masters, had suffered abdominal pain after the Paris Masters, which put his presence in Madrid in question.

The world No.1 as his captain do not see Spain as a favorite for the final victory, because of the hard surface on which will be played the tournament.

"On clay, I do not even know when was the last defeat of Spain at home in Davis Cup. (The clay) is our surface, but this (hard) surface is the one that they put us each time when we play outside, we suffer more on that one, "conceded Bruguera.

Spain fell in Group B, along with Croatia and Russia, "two very strong opponents", according to the Spanish captain, although both teams lost important players, with the defections of Marin Cilic (Croatia) and Daniil Medvedev (Russia).

For his first match, Spain will face Russia on Tuesday.
