In Burkina Faso, at least 32 terrorists were killed by the armed forces during two operations in the north-central and northern regions between Friday 15 and Saturday 16 November. These operations took place following attacks on the armed forces. Large batches of weapons and ammunition have been seized. A Burkinabe soldier died.

All started from an ambush against a patrol of the group of security forces north last Friday. This ambush took place in the vicinity of Yorsala, in the department of Titao , about forty kilometers from the city of Ouahigougouya. One soldier was killed, according to RFI sources.


After the unit's response, a sweeping operation took place in the Yorsala Forest. According to the General Staff of the armed forces, intense fighting lasted several hours. During these clashes, 24 terrorists were neutralized, according to the Burkinabe armed forces. Various materials were also recovered.

This operation allowed, according to the staff, to release several women who were detained and used as sex slaves by terrorists . According to RFI sources, two Burkinabe soldiers were wounded during the operation.


After these clashes, and following specific information, units of the group of security forces in the north have conducted an offensive action in the vicinity of Bourzanga, a town targeted by numerous attacks by armed groups in recent months.

This operation helped neutralize eight terrorists. The staff also said that there was a large batch of weapons, ammunition and other equipment seized.
