  • Protests.Macron does not convince the 'yellow vests'

Groups of 'yellow vests' multiplied this Saturday the altercations and acts of vandalism in different parts of Paris during a day of protests that marks their first anniversary and that did not achieve a great mobilization .

The main point of tension in the early afternoon was the Plaza de Italia, to the southeast of the city, where protesters for the most part with their faces not being identified formed barricades and set them on fire, as did some motorcycles and cars .

The rioters also destroyed bus stops and different street furniture, kiosks, broke shop windows , such as a branch of the HSBC bank and attacked a shopping center.

The police reacted with charges and with the launch of tear gas to disperse them.

More than forty people had been arrested before 13.30 local time (12.30 GMT) and law enforcement had proceeded to carry out about 1,500 preventive controls throughout the city , according to the Police Prefecture, especially in the perimeter of the areas where any demonstration is prohibited throughout the weekend.

That covers the neighborhoods of the Champs Elysees avenue, the Notre Dame cathedral, the National Assembly, the Eiffel tower, the Trocadero, the Matignon palace - official residence of the prime minister - or the Saint Lazare station .

Italy Square, starting point

The Italian square was the starting point , starting at 2:00 p.m. local time (1:00 p.m. GMT) of one of the three demonstrations declared in the city by the "yellow vests", but which was canceled by the Police Prefecture due to the altercations

Another also authorized had left at mid-morning at the Champerret Gate , where shortly after 10.00 local time (9.00 GMT) several dozen people interrupted the circulation of the peripheral, the ring road of Paris, very close there, until they were evicted a few minutes later by riot police.

Before the start of the march towards Austerlitz station in the Puerta de Champerret also clashes occurred between police and protesters hiding his face and had formed some barricades.

Outside Paris, there were dozens of calls for the 'yellow vests' in other parts of France, such as in Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes and Toulouse .
