“This is not something new and fresh ... The nations that are members of NATO have different interests, (there are) different times. We see what Turkey is doing in recent weeks, a NATO ally. It’s never happened that there was an ideal relationship within the alliance, ”RIA Novosti quoted Pompeo as saying.
He noted that the main thing is that all members of the alliance can participate in solving common problems at a level that will allow NATO to "remain successful."
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that NATO is in a state of "brain death." According to him, Europeans can no longer count on US military protection.
Pompeo stated that NATO is always at risk of obsolescence.
