Five people died, including three children, and another minor is injured after a shooting in a home in San Diego (USA) on Saturday, official sources reported.

According to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD), several calls warned of shooting in the Paradise Hills neighborhood after seven in the morning.

Upon arrival, the authorities found four children and two adults with gunshot wounds inside the house. Three children between five and eleven were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Meanwhile, a three-year-old boy, the 29-year-old mother and a 31-year-old man, whose relationship with the family has not been established, were pronounced dead at the scene.

In the hospital, a 5-year-old and a 9-year-old boy died shortly after being admitted. Only a child under 11 remains alive so far.

Homicide Lieutenant Matt Dobbs, of SDPD, told OnSceneTV that no person spoke with the operator on the first call he received the emergency service, but in the background a discussion was heard, which led to the authorities' response. On the way, the police received other calls alerting to gunfire.

The first information has not clarified whether the shooting is a crime of domestic violence, or if it is classified as homicide or suicide.

The shooting happened two days after a student at Saugus High School in Los Angeles caused a massacre. Nathaniel Berhow, 16, killed two students at his school and wounded three more on Thursday. The alleged attacker died this Friday from the injuries he suffered when he shot himself in the head.
