In Vienna, Austria, the annual Christmas market, which has been around since the 14th century and is now a winter feature, began in the square in front of the town hall on the 16th.
On the first day, a lighting ceremony was held for a 130-year-old, 32 meter-high Christmas tree from Salzburg, central Austria, and about 2000 LED bulbs were lit together.
There were more than 150 stores in the venue, and visitors enjoyed the glamorous atmosphere of Christmas while buying Christmas decorations and talking with hot wine in one hand. A local man who came with a friend said, “The atmosphere is great. Especially mulled wine is indispensable.”
Also, a woman who came from Cyprus in the Mediterranean said, “The tree is beautiful. I came last year, but I enjoy many shops, decorations and wine.”
The Christmas market will be open until next month 26, with more than 3.5 million people coming from all over the world.
