American singer Taylor Swift revived Thursday hostilities with his former label, accusing its leaders to prevent him from giving a show and release a documentary Netflix on his life.
This news comes to revive the quarrel between the pop princess and music mogul Scooter Braun. Taylor Swift had announced in August to re-record his hits to regain control of his works, of which Mr. Braun, with the label Big Machine Label has obtained the majority of recordings.
The owner of the "masters", original recordings used to make vinyls, CDs and other digital copies, decides how the songs are reproduced or sold. These coveted recordings are one of the main sources of income for artists when they own the rights.
The 29-year-old singer said Thursday in a blog post that Mr. Braun and his associate Scott Borchetta were exercising "tyrannical control" over her.
Taylor Swift accuses the two men of telling her team that she was "not allowed to play the old songs on television" because "it would be like re-recording (s) to music before '(she) has the right to do it next year ".
This could then hurt her planned performance at the American Music Awards this month, where she is to receive the artist award of the decade.
"Plus, and that's not how I planned to share this news with you," the artist continued, "Netflix has created a documentary about my life in recent years, and Scott and Scooter have banned use of my old music or excerpts from my performances for this project, while there is no mention of them or Big Machine Records anywhere in the film ".
"The message they send me and very clear" lashed Taylor Swift. "Basically, be a good little girl and shut up".
Taylor Swift has called her fans and artists she is close to support in this bitter battle against MM. Braun and Borchetta, who have not yet commented on the case publicly.
