As indicated in the Crimean branch of the Investigative Committee, her stepfather was detained on suspicion of killing the girl. A criminal case was instituted against him. It is assumed that he killed his stepdaughter, and then hid her body.
“In the process of conducting relevant studies ... the involvement in the disappearance of the girl of her stepfather was established. And during further interrogation, he confessed to the murder of the child, outlining the circumstances of that terrible day. According to investigators, the man after the crime took the stepdaughter's body out of the house and hid it not far from his place of residence. Then, in order to create an alibi for himself, he took the documents of the children from the kindergarten and tried to leave with his youngest son in a neighboring state, but he did not succeed. Returning home, he reported to the police about the disappearance of the girl.
