Negotiations on the issue of “recruitment” beginning with discussions between the Directors of Foreign Affairs of Japan and Korea

Discussions by the directors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and South Korea have been held, and it seems that the Japanese side has been renewed to ask Korea to correct the violation of international law on the issue of “recruitment”.

In addition, as the Japan-Korea Comprehensive Military Information Protection Agreement = GSOMIA expires next week, it seems that discussions are taking place on security.

The talks between Takizaki Asia-Pacific Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Kim Jong-han, Director of the Asia-Pacific Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea have been held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tokyo from around 9:00 am for the first time in a month.

When Kim entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he told reporters, “I want to discuss each other's interests with a wide open collar.”

In the talks, the Japanese side seems to have renewed the request for Korea to swiftly correct the violation of international law on the issue of “recruitment” during the Pacific War.

Also, with the decision to abandon the Korean side, it seems that opinions are being exchanged over security aspects as the Japan-Korea military information comprehensive protection agreement = GSOMIA expires on the 23rd of next week.

While the Japanese government has repeated the launch of ballistic missiles by North Korea, the destruction of GSOMIA is a complete misunderstanding of the local security environment, whereas the Korean government has made Japan export control to South Korea. We will maintain our position that we will be ready to reconsider if we withdraw the enhancement.

The focus is on finding clues to overcome the situation as the United States urges Korea to review its decision to discard.
