A 39-year-old man was arrested by the Rimini police for infecting one of his lovers with HIV and for voluntarily exposing three others to the virus. The man, of Brazilian origins, is under house arrest and must answer for the crime of serious injuries. According to investigations taken in August following reports from the cohabitant, the man would have entertained several long-lasting sexual relationships with various women, infecting one of these with HIV.

The investigations of the carabinieri have ascertained how the 39 year-old, positive for HIV in some years, from 2017 had voluntarily suspended the drug therapy, he had then resumed it only sporadically in 2018, to then interrupt it totally exponentially increasing the risk of contagion exponentially in case of unprotected sex. In addition to the cohabitant, the investigations of the military allowed to trace back to three other women, known through some social networks, which, unaware of the state of human health, confirmed that they had had unprotected sex with the suspect. For one of these the medical tests gave positive results. Investigations by Rimini's carabinieri, coordinated by deputy prosecutor Paolo Gengarelli, led to the order for pre-trial detention for house arrest issued by the magistrate of the Court of Rimini, Manuel Bianchi. At the moment the investigators of the weapon are at work to trace, through the analysis of the PC used by the 39 year old, to any other women known on the internet, to chat and to the actual sentimental frequentations of the arrested person.
