Kuwait's Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak has submitted to the Emir of Kuwait the resignation of the government in order to re-arrange the ministerial work, the official Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
For his part, Speaker of the National Assembly Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim said that the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah does not intend to dissolve the Council at the present time.
The developments come amid tension between the government and parliament after it witnessed Tuesday interrogations of the Minister of Public Works Jinan Boushahri and Interior Minister Khalid al-Jarrah al-Sabah.
The Minister of Public Works, who is also the Minister of State for Housing Affairs, announced her resignation in order to avoid confidence in her after a stormy questioning. "Unfortunately, companies and influencers are stronger than the right," she said.
Ten lawmakers filed a no-confidence motion against the interior minister, who is also a deputy prime minister, and was due to vote next week.
The resigning government is the seventh to be headed by Jaber al-Sabah, and was formed in December 2017.He first headed the government in November 2011.
