Inter Miami, a franchise presided over by David Beckham that will appear next year in MLS, will play its first-ever home game against Los Angeles Galaxy on March 14, one month after the start of the championship, said the Florida club Wednesday.

Six years after taking the reins of this new club, Beckham will finally see his project in Florida succeed. The regular season starting in February, Inter Miami will play its first meetings outside, the time that its stadium of 19,000 seats, currently under construction, is finally delivered to Fort Lauderdale.

"It's a historic day and we can not wait to live it," said Jurgen Mainka, the club's commercial affairs manager, about the Galaxy reception. A poster that will be played without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Swede announced Wednesday the end of his Californian adventure after two seasons.

In the radius players, Inter Miami must still constitute its workforce. And David Beckham takes an active part, according to sports director Paul McDonough who explained that the network of the former star of Manchester United and Real Madrid could be advantageous.

For now, the team, which must also find a coach, has recruited the young Argentine striker Matias Pellegrini, 19 years.

Other more prestigious names have circulated in recent months, such as those of Colombians Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez, Uruguayans Luis Suarez and Edison Cavani or that of the attacking midfielder of Manchester City David Silva.

"I talked to David this morning for an hour, he's not here in Miami every day, but he's in touch with us every day, so I asked him to call two or three players with whom I I spoke yesterday because they want news of it, "said McDonough.

"It is invaluable to have someone of his stature who is in the game and who is able to talk to the players," continued the club's sports director, during a visit to the Fort Lauderdale stadium on Wednesday.

Inter Miami plans to play its first two MLS seasons here, before settling in a new technology complex near Miami Airport on the Melreese golf course.

A project for the time slowed down by political conflicts.
