19 September 2018 The Court of Milan acquitted the former CEO of Eni and current president of Milan, Paolo Scaroni, one of the defendants for international corruption for the case of alleged bribes paid to the former Algerian energy minister and his entourage in exchange of contracts for the exploitation of oil fields in the African country.

The judges also acquitted Antonio Vella, manager of Eni, and the Italian oil group itself.
