During the evening, the police, SOS and the emergency services received a large number of calls from troubled residents in the area.

- I got calls from different places that it sounded something and that it sounded something incredible. So much so, there has been a signal there, says Richard Lindqvist, internal commander at the rescue service in Jönköping.

Troubleshooting continues

A technician was sent out during the night to troubleshoot and make sure no more signals were output. Troubleshooting continues during Tuesday.

The VMA alarm is used in accidents or serious situations to warn the public of, for example, a major fire. It can also be used to provide emergency and flight alarms should the country end up in war.

The signal in Bankeryd sounded only on one occasion, according to the rescue service. However, there is different information on how many signals went out.

In July 2017, "Hesa Fredrik" sounded by mistake in Stockholm. The human factor was behind the signal at that time. SOS, Police and MSB sites went down as people tried to search for information. SOS Alarm took responsibility for the mistake and several authorities were buzzing about how they handled the incident.
