In the nation, unemployment is rising at a faster rate and is 7.1 percent on the national level. But Västerbotten continues to have the lowest percentage of unemployed in the country, with 5.5 per cent. Figures that the Labor Office calls "extremely low".

Why unemployment is so low right in Västerbotten, Anders Hallin thinks to a large extent is because the growth towns Umeå and Skellefteå are on the rise with, among other things, investments in the industry.

- Umeå has been an engine that has contributed to the low statistics, and Skellefteå is doing extremely well. Based on the growth we have in the resorts today, you can expect that it will last.

Challenge to find labor

While Anders Hallin is pleased with the county's low figures, he also believes that it also requires working to secure labor in both the short and the long term. Among other things, for the industrial investments in coastal cities, and for the welfare sector, the need is great.

- It's positive - but there are challenges in that as well. Umeå is a growing city, and there are many businesses that need manpower. It is one of our biggest challenges, that employers get the manpower they need.

Hallin adds that this presupposes that one actually takes advantage of the labor available to the labor market today.
- So that society receives everyone who stands outside, and prepares space. For everyone is needed, otherwise it is difficult to get the equation to go together.
