As the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov noted, the Kremlin is grateful to Nazarbayev and greatly appreciates the efforts of partners from Kazakhstan in terms of establishing Russian-Ukrainian relations.
Peskov pointed out that Putin is “a supporter of the resuscitation of these relations, their return to normal”, but reciprocity on the part of Kiev is necessary.
“Of course, Putin himself said that he never refuses such meetings and this meeting either, but believes that a meeting for the sake of the meeting will bring little benefit,” he said.
The Kremlin representative stressed that such a meeting should be well prepared.
“In this regard, we are currently concentrating on preparing for the Normandy format process,” he added.
Earlier, Nazarbayev proposed organizing a meeting between Putin and Zelensky in Kazakhstan. However, he said that the President of Ukraine has already given his consent.
