  • Felipe VI. The King has traveled to 25 countries and has Cuba as a great pending visit

The Kings have arrived early this Tuesday in Havana to start a historic visit, the first state of a Spanish king to the island.

The Spanish Air Force plane in which Felipe VI and Doña Letizia traveled from Madrid landed at the José Martí airport in Havana shortly before 7:30 p.m. (12:30 p.m. GMT on November 12) with two flags of Spain and Cuba outside the cockpit.

At the airport, I was waiting for you to receive your Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, on behalf of the Cuban Government , since the official welcome by the president of the country, Miguel Díaz-Canel, will be on Tuesday morning.

For reasons of protocol due to the time of arrival (already dusk in Havana ) there was no reception with honors or interpretation of the national anthems, which will also be held on Tuesday when Diaz-Canel welcomes you at the Council headquarters of State.

The ambassador of Spain in Cuba, Juan Fernández Trigo , and his Cuban counterpart in Madrid, Gustavo Machín , boarded the aircraft to greet Felipe VI and Doña Letizia before they descended the ladder of the plane.

Bruno Rodriguez was waiting for her, who greeted the King with a long handshake and then the Queen. He also subsequently shook the hand of the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, who accompanies the Kings on this visit.

The director of Europe of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alba Soto , and the person in charge of Spain in the same department, Miguel Moré , were also part of the delegation of Cuban authorities who received the kings .

Don Felipe and Mrs. Letizia greeted each one of them before accessing the airport authorities room to hold a meeting with Bruno Rodríguez before moving to the hotel in the Cuban capital where they will be staying during their stay there.

In Havana they will remain until noon on Thursday, November 14, when they will travel to Santiago de Cuba to conclude there the agenda of this trip.

An agenda that includes acts of an institutional, economic and cultural nature and will begin on Tuesday with a floral offering before the monument to the Cuban hero José Martí before the reception by Díaz-Canel.

The Spanish Government considers that this visit corrects an "anomaly" in bilateral relations and its normalization is achieved.
