The Bolivian Police claimed Monday the intervention of the army in the streets to warn of the "unsustainable" situation in the country, to be "exceeded" to contain the violence.

A police command told the media in La Paz that they are not willing to have to take "dead on their shoulders", to be overwhelmed by violent groups with firearms and "intention to kill."

Meanwhile, Williams Kaliman, commander of the country's Armed Forces, has confirmed the sending of troops to work together with the Police against the "groups of vandals."

The commander of the Bolivian Police in La Paz, Antonio Barrenechea, said that the police have been mobilized for 21 days by the crisis that has been going through the country since the elections of October 20, "holding this", but "it is not possible" to contain the situation for longer.

Berranechea, who appeared before the police headquarters surrounded by uniforms, called for military intervention so that "according to the law mandates, peace and tranquility can be restored."

"We are not going to allow a single death on the side of the Bolivian Police, I cannot allow it, my responsibility is great," he warned. "I don't want to take my shoulder dead," he exclaimed in an "unsustainable" situation due to the episodes of violence in the country.

The police command said that "these people, unfortunately, I don't know what to call them, they already have other intentions, they are equipped with firearms, with the intention of killing and we cannot allow it."

The Police cannot confront these groups armed only with means such as tear gas, in a "totally disproportionate" way, he lamented. "We have decided to ask for the support of the Armed Forces," to restore social peace and prevent further deaths, he reiterated.

The situation in Bolivia has been aggravating since last Sunday President Evo Morales announced his resignation, with a wave of looting, fire and other disturbances in much of the country.

The main cities remain almost deserted local time tonight , after new episodes of violence were recorded during some days like La Paz and El Alto.
