Disney +, Disney's new video streaming platform, experienced technical problems when it was launched in the United States and Canada on Tuesday, with several users claiming to have had difficulty accessing their account.

Screenshots posted on Twitter and other social networks show the message "Can not connect to Disney +", along with an image of the animated film "Ralph's Worlds" and an invitation to retry the connection.

"Consumer demand for Disney + has exceeded our high expectations, we are pleased with this incredible response and are working to quickly solve the problem," said a Disney spokesman to AFP.

According to the Downdetector website, which allows users to report errors on applications and websites, nearly 8,000 reports were made around 14:00 GMT.

The problems mainly affect the East Coast of the United States and California.

Disney + is available since Tuesday from $ 6.99 per month, a price well below that of its competitor Netflix, and offers an impressive catalog, with the films of "Star Wars", Pixar and Marvel.

For $ 12.99, subscribers to the old D23 platform also have access to Hulu and ESPN + (sports).

The group hopes to attract between 60 and 90 million subscribers by 2024.
