Among other things, the Alliance has agreed to donate more money to the school and has erased a target for the sale of 4,000 rental rights during the term of office.

- I am pleased to have reached a settlement with the Social Democrats. The alliance takes responsibility for the board of Gothenburg and now we can continue to implement our policy, says Axel Josefson (M), chairman of the municipal council.

The message means that the Social Democrats have come forward to release the Alliance's budget in the budget vote.

- We are still deeply critical of the board's budget. It does not do what it takes to solve the problems that the school and its care suffer from, but at the same time, I am proud that we have succeeded in stopping proposals that would mean almost irreversible deterioration in welfare. It is to put welfare first, in action, not just in words, says Jonas Attenius (S), opposition council.

Threatened trap Alliance budget

It was a couple of weeks ago that the Social Democrats threatened to step down from practice and vote on another party's budget proposal. This had meant that the Alliance's budget proposals had very likely fallen, and that the City of Gothenburg would have faced a very strange political situation.

The reason for the S threat was, according to Jonas Attenius, that the Alliance's budget contained too many welfare cuts.

- The school is particularly exposed to major cuts, with consequences for the future of our children. At the same time, the administrative apparatus must continue to grow, wrote group leader Jonas Attenius in a blog post then.

The Democrats also did a joint thing with the Social Democrats and got through that the budget decision was postponed. Therefore, a debate and vote on the budget is now being held at an extra-ordinary council meeting on Wednesday.
