Wiesbaden (dpa) - Cybercrime is on the rise in Germany with the growing digitization. The number of crimes climbed in 2018 compared to the previous year by more than one percent to around 87 100. This was reported by the Federal Criminal Police Office. Three-quarters of all cases were computer fraud, as well as hacker attacks on companies and data theft. The increasing number of digital devices is providing cybercriminals with new potential targets. Vice President Peter Henzler announced a new BKA department to fight cybercrime in April.
