Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah on Sunday pardoned citizens accused of "insulting the princely self".

The amnesty decision included lawyer Hijab Mohammed al-Hajri on the grounds of his previous conviction of insulting the prince through a tweet on Twitter, before he apologized.

He also included former MP Fahd Saleh al-Khanna convicted of the case of storming the National Assembly and abuse of the Prince, after accepting his apology.

The Kuwaiti News Agency quoted several families thanks and gratitude to the Amir for the amnesty decision.

For his part, Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad told the families of one of those covered by the pardon "One is wrong but does not keep up in his mistake .. The one confessed and corrected its path .. Most of those who do not sin."
