"It is every parent's nightmare to lose a child," says Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh (S), chair of the local council in Malmö. She says her thoughts go to the boys' relatives and to those who witnessed the incident.

She says that she also thinks of the police and the medical staff who worked during the night.

Risk of escalation

Many people on Sunday morning came to the scene where a boy of 15 years of age was shot dead and another boy was seriously injured on Saturday night. Police have on-site staff talking to witnesses and others who have made observations. Many are upset and scared.

- It has been a heavy and black night in Malmö. I think what we see is what the police have flagged for, namely an escalation of the cruel and reckless violence in Malmö, says Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh.

She notes that there have been several gang-related acts of violence in Malmö lately where police see a connection.

- We have been in this situation before with similar events. This is what the police have warned about, says Katrin Sternfedlt Jammeh.
