Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdul Aziz on Sunday received a message from Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah delivered the message to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques during a meeting with King Salman in Riyadh on Sunday, the official SPA news agency reported.

The Kuwaiti foreign minister arrived in Saudi Arabia on Sunday for an unannounced and unspecified visit.

The agency said that "Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Sabah conveyed to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques greetings and appreciation of the Amir of the State of Kuwait, while King Salman conveyed his greetings and appreciation to Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah."

The Kuwaiti message today comes about 12 days after the emir of Kuwait in his speech during the opening of a session of the National Assembly (parliament) on October 29 last year, which said "it is unacceptable to continue the Gulf dispute between the GCC countries."

The Gulf dispute dates back to mid-2017, when Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt severed ties with Qatar on the grounds of “supporting terrorism,” which Doha has repeatedly denied.
