Manchester United returned to the peloton with a 3-1 win over Brighton on Sunday for the 12th round of the Premier League, as did Wolverhampton, who took the best of Aston Villa (2-1).

But the big shock of the day is still expected with the Liverpool-Manchester City which will start at 17:30 (16:30 GMT).

. Manchester United bounces:

Decidedly, the weeks follow but are not alike for the Red Devils.

After a disappointing performance in Bournemouth last week, they delivered a very successful match this time around.

These three points allowed them to jump from 14th to 7th place with 16 points, a length behind Arsenal (6th) and Sheffield United (5th), but still at 9 from Manchester City who moves to Liverpool.

The progress mainly concerned the offensive animation that was perhaps the best of the season from the Mancunians, with 21 shots including 11 shots.

They could have won even more without the incredible miss Marcus Rashford 20 minutes from the end to 5 meters from goal

The men of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer quickly took cover with a goal from Andreas Pereira on a deflected shot after a decisive pass by Anthony Martial (1-0, 17th).

Three minutes later, on a confusing action following a free-kick, Davy Pröpper pushed the ball into his goal under the pressure of Scott McTominay (2-0, 19th).

Rashford, in spite of his 70th fumble, allowed United to finish the match without too much stress by adding a third goal to 66th - his sixth of the season - 2 minutes after Brighton had reduced the score by Lewis Dunk.

. Wolverhampton is back!

Qualified in the Europa League this season, thanks to the victory of Manchester City in the Coupe de la Ligue, the Wolves, through a preliminary round and a barrage, paid these summer efforts early in the season.

But in recent weeks, the men of Nuno Espirito Santo are finding their cruising pace.

Very well set to qualify for the round of 32 of the C3, they have just aligned 3 victories - including one to City 2-0 - and 4 draws to go up again in the wake of Arsenal and Sheffield, the 8th rank with 16 points

On Sunday, despite the scare of Trezeguet's diminishing score in extra time, they largely dominated Aston Villa (2-1), misfired (17th) but who clings to his 3-point lead on the red zone.

A hit from Ruben Neves at the edge of the box - his 11th goal out of 14 out of sixteen yards for Wolverhamtpon - and a goal from Raul Jimenez on a perfect serve from Adama Traoré, who was a real offensive poison for Villans on the right flank all match, were enough to the happiness of the "Wolves".

They can dream to consolidate their position with a relatively mild schedule after the international break with trips to Bournemouth and Brighton interspersed with the double reception of Sheffield United and West Ham adrift.
