According to the deputy, such statements cause "bewilderment in the eyes of scientists, for whom both Sikorsky and Korolev have always been associated with Russia."

“So no matter how hard the Ukrainian president tries, he won’t take words out of a well-known song,” Balbek believes.

He noted that Zelensky made his statement in order "to show the contribution of Ukraine to the development of mankind."

“Today, official Kiev needs a status that would help divert community attention from the civil war and nationalist image,” the politician concluded.

Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky said during a speech at the Kiev International Economic Forum that Ukrainians created the first helicopter and artificial Earth satellite.

He also ranked among the achievements of Ukrainians the creation of a prototype of X-rays, a CD, a zip code, electric tram technology and the world's largest aircraft.
