09 May 2018Before being expelled from the Academy, Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski had thrown himself against the #MeToo women's defense movement. "A total hypocrisy - he had defined it in an interview published today in the newspaper Newsweek - a real collective hysteria".

On the film industry's stance on sexual harassment, he added: "I think this is the kind of mass hysteria that occurs in society from time to time. Sometimes it is very dramatic, like the French Revolution or the massacre of St. Bartholomew's Day in France, sometimes it's less bloody ".

Expulsion from the Academy
The 84-year-old director was chased away last week by the academy along with actor Bill Cosby for allegations of sexual violence against a minor girl. He has now decided to sue.

According to reports from the Los Angeles Times, Polanski's lawyer would have commented on the affair in this way: "We are not contesting the merit of the expulsion, but the fact that your organization has clearly violated its own standards of conduct, in addition to those required by the laws governing US corporations ".
