The day of the archive was organized for the first time in 1998. Already then the Skåne municipality invited Kävlinge to an open house.

- It's an incredibly appreciated day. Around 150 visitors usually come here, says Cecilia Hägglund, who is an archivist in Kävlinge. People of all ages come here. They are fascinated by how much old pictures and documents there are actually to look at.

A cultural heritage

In the archives, which count towards our cultural heritage, all possible documents are saved. The idea of Archive Day is to awaken an interest in the archives' activities and to highlight what is preserved in the archives.

- The sense is somewhere that everything we collect should be used and displayed. This day is a great opportunity for just that, thinks Cecilia Hägglund.

Hidden and forgotten

This year, the theme of the day is "Hidden and forgotten". In Kävlinge municipality, Cecilia Hägglund and colleagues have focused on highlighting the fact that once upon a time it was a mill with many industries.

- It is a theme that can be interpreted in every possible way. But we have chosen to focus on, among other things, the sugar mills that have had a great impact on the growth of society. I think it is forgotten what kind of farm we used to be.

In addition to 13 Skåne municipalities, the Municipal Center in Lund is also open.
