A replica of the Berlin Wall was deployed Saturday along the centerline of the Berlin Olympic Stadium, marking the 30th anniversary of its fall, before the Hertha Berlin-Leipzig match counting for the 11th day of the Bundesliga.
A tag "Together Against the Walls, Together for Berlin" decorated the Wall, while the two teams warmed each to one side.
The German capital celebrates with great pomp on Saturday the anniversary of the fall of this wall, erected by order of the communist regime of the GDR in 1961.
The "Wall" of the Olympic Stadium, made of lightweight materials, was dismantled before the kickoff of the meeting.
The other team from Berlin playing in the first division, the Union, is this Saturday on a trip to Mainz.
The two teams from Berlin met last Saturday on the pitch of the Union, which won 1-0.
