- This month we want to encourage the men to go and take a PSA test, says Arne Ludvigsson from ProLiv Dalarna.

That means PSA tests

A PSA test is simply a blood test that measures PSA levels in the blood and is used to assess the risk of prostate cancer. Today, it is up to the men themselves to contact to get a test, because there is currently no general screening that corresponds to what women are offered when it comes to breast cancer.

- This type of cancer is so tricky, because sometimes it is very aggressive and sometimes it is slowly growing, so this month we really want to encourage the men to go and take a PSA test.

Can spread

Prostate cancer is a treacherous disease as it rarely causes any symptoms until it is far advanced. Some "typical symptoms" may be that you have trouble peeing, which may be due to the prostate clamping to the urethra. If you also have back pain, it can mean that in the worst case it has spread from to surrounding tissues.

- You always have the right to take a test, and especially if you have a relative who has had prostate cancer. It is done in five minutes, a small stick in the arm, simple and effective. But within a few years I hope that you also run general screening for men.

In the clip above, Arne Ludvigsson talks about why it is important to raise funds and what they will have for manifestation this weekend.
