09 November 2019A French woman accused Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski of raping her in a Swiss ski resort when she was a teenager. Valentine Monnier told Le Parisien newspaper that the alleged rape occurred in 1975, when he was 18, in the Polanski chalet in Gstaad.

"I had no ties with him, neither personal nor professional, and I knew little about him," explained Monnier, a former model who worked in New York, who called the alleged "extremely violent" rape.

It is the latest accusation against the Polish-born director, who fled to France in 1978 from the United States after admitting the rape of a 13-year-old girl. The 86-year-old has since been a fugitive for the American judicial system, despite repeated attempts to extradite him.

Polanski's lawyer, Herve Temime, said the director "firmly denies all allegations of rape", adding that these "date back 45 years and have never been reported to the judicial authorities".
