One of the participants in today's manifestation against drugs in Vilhelmina is Viktoria Hultman who is currently working in the elementary school. She is a peer with one of the victims, just over 20 years. She describes the small town in the inland of Västerbotten with its more than 3500 inhabitants as a society on the road, that much should have been done a long time ago.

- I could easily give you 35 names of young people who abuse drugs, they are aged 14 years and up. This is so common in Vilhelmina, says Viktoria.

"The whole of Vilhelmina stands handcuffed"

She has lit candles for more than one who no longer lives due to mental ill-health as a result of taking drugs.

"The whole of Vilhelmina is falling prey to what has happened, that young people repeatedly fall victim to drugs," says Viktoria and continues:

- There are so many siblings, families and friends who are also affected. It must end!

Sold to 13 year olds

It was about seven years ago that she saw a change and more drugs in circulation.

- They were completely open down here in the School Park and sold, it didn't matter if it was 13-year-olds who were shopping, totally sick, she says.

She looks critically at how society has not done more in time against the drugs.

- People in the municipality are certainly knowledgeable, but that is not enough. Police, the public and social authorities need to work together more, this has gone to hell. There must be resources to help those who are now addicted, but also to prevent even more people taking drugs at a young age, says Viktoria Hultman.
