According to him, the Russian Orthodox Church is deeply saddened by the decision of Patriarch Theodore to recognize Epiphanius Dumenko as head of the PCU and to include him in the diptych.

“This means that the commemoration of the name of the Patriarch of Alexandria will not be able to continue when the patriarchal services are held in the Russian Orthodox Church,” Balashov said.

Earlier it became known that the Primate of the Alexandria Church, Patriarch Theodore recognized the PCU, mentioning the name of Epiphanius as the Primate of one of the local Orthodox churches after the liturgy.

In late October, the PCU was recognized by the head of the Greek Orthodox Church, Jerome II. The Russian Orthodox Church in response to this ceased Eucharistic communion with the Archbishop.
