Right now the “Donation Week” is underway, a special week to get more people to sign up for the donation register. The person who has registered admits that body parts may be used for transplantation when you go away.

In Sweden, more than 800 people are waiting for organs. Although the willingness to donate organs is great in Sweden, there is a shortage of organs.

If there is a consent to use organs then it will be easier for the care and easier for relatives.

Although it is good that many sign up for donation registers, the other thing that many in health care are demanding is clearer rules.

Today the rules are old and not adapted to today's activities with donations and transplants. Often, it is the individual physician who is allowed to interpret the regulations.

An amendment to today's rules is underway. At the beginning of the summer, the government's investigator, Sten Heckscher, presented his inquiry with the name "Organ preservation treatment for donation". Now the report is out for referral and the referral period expires on 12 November.
