- It is mainly business travel that slows down. Private travel domestically does not have the same development, says Anna Strömwall, airport director at Landvetter.

Strömwall states that the decline in business travel in Sweden is probably due to many companies switching to digital meetings instead of physical ones. Partly for economic reasons, but perhaps above all for climate reasons.

- It is clear that the debate about the climate has affected how people travel, says Strömwall.

At the same time, domestic flights do not decrease to the same extent at the other airports around Sweden.

- There we think it is about being on the border in terms of time when it comes to traveling between Gothenburg and Stockholm. On this route there are also many alternative travel options to choose from

Foreign flights are increasing

At Landvetter, domestic flights account for only 20 percent of travelers. Foreign flights account for 80 percent, and the number of travelers has increased by two percent in October, compared with the same month last year. On the total, therefore, travel from Landvetter is increasing, though at a slower pace than before.

In January Swedavia notified 125 people around the various airports in Sweden. Anna Strömwall does not want to tell how many who were finally allowed to leave at Landvetter, but she says that there are no plans for any new notifications in the near future.

- We are pleased that we acted on this slowdown early and that we decided two years ago to make a transformation. This has made us feel better equipped today, ”she says.

In total, Landvetter Airport had 599,000 travelers during the month of October.
