For over ten years, the United States has wanted to erect a statue of Ronald Reagan in Berlin, in honor of the memory of the president, which they believe played an important role in demolishing the wall.

But the politicians in Berlin have been unanimous on the issue and repeatedly said no to the United States when they asked for a statue to be erected right at the Brandenburg Gate, the site where Reagan gave a famous speech two years before the fall of the Wall.

The United States takes the matter into its own hands

In Berlin, it has long been reasoned in such a way that Reagan is already sufficiently honored in that he is an honorary citizen of the city, but it was not enough for the United States who, instead of listening to the politicians, took the matter into their own hands.

On Friday, November 8, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo inaugurated the three-foot-tall statue that will stand on a balcony inside the US Embassy, instead of in front of the Brandenburg Gate.
