Just over a year ago, the message came that Cementa Sweden intended to make a major cut in the cement factory in Degerhamn. Since then, 75 employees have become six.
On Friday, a collaboration was announced between the municipality and the company to counteract the negative effects of the cut.
- Cementa will contribute SEK 500,000 per year over a three-year period. It should be pointed out that this has nothing to do with the requirements for restoration of the land area, but it is about investment initiatives to help us in the restructuring planned for Sydöland and which will contribute to a future sustainable Öland, says Ann Willsund, Deputy Director
The actors will run several projects during the period 2020-2022. Among other things, activities and initiatives are proposed around Bergstiden, the limestone quarry and port initiatives, the municipality writes in a press release.
