“A sentence has been handed down to the participants of the Yaroslavl cell of the Islamic State international terrorist organization,” the report said.

As noted, convicts through the Telegram messenger “established contact with representatives of the IG and planned to carry out a terrorist attack” in one of the Russian regions.

It is emphasized that the terrorists could not realize their criminal plan, since on May 3, 2018 they were detained.

Earlier, three members of the IG received from 10 to 15 years in prison for the preparation of terrorist attacks on the railway in the Moscow region.

In May 2018, five members of the IG who were planning to carry out terrorist attacks were detained in Yaroslavl.

* “Islamic State” (IG) - the organization was recognized as terrorist by decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation of December 29, 2014.
