The alert is still maintained in north-eastern Mali. After the deadly attack on Indelimane a week ago (55 dead), soldiers from the Anderamboukane camp, south-east of Indelimane, on the Nigerian border, decided to leave their camp and retreated to Menaka.

Threats had been looming over Anderamboukane for several days, but it seems that Indelimane's attack accelerated the movement of the military.
According to several sources, they left their camp on Tuesday and joined Menaka, about 100 kilometers to the northwest.

Officially, no explanation has been given. But a local official sees an obvious reorganization following the threats. " We can no longer leave isolated posts of this kind, or they must be very strong, " says our interlocutor who is reassuring: " The military are ready to leave. "

After Indelimane, it is, de facto, a second Fama camp in the region that is now unoccupied. A region that has become in recent years the stronghold of Abu Walid al-Sahrawi, head of the Islamic State in the Great Sahara.

While awaiting a possible redeployment, the ex-rebels of the MSA, engaged in the fight against terrorism in the region, say occupy the ground with force pick-ups and motorcycles. We are in " red alert ", says one of their leaders. On the other side of the border in Niger, the concern is the same and the alert is maximum, according to sources safe.
