Interest is sexual activity ... The darkness of interpersonal financing Nov. 7 19:31

"I'm behind with my child's learning ..." "I can't pay for my mobile phone ...". A lot of writings that ask for debt on SNS such as Twitter. “Individual loans” where strangers lend and borrow money are increasing rapidly. However, there are a number of cases involving unexpected crimes behind such easy lending and borrowing. We approached the “darkness” of loan between individuals.

Loans in half a day

If you search for “inter-personal loan” on the Internet, a huge amount of writing such as “I want to borrow money” will be updated in minutes.

In addition to the purpose of debt, such as "I can't pay for my mobile phone" or "I'm late for my child's learning", I also write down the desired amount and email address.

As long as you look at the bulletin board on the Internet, the amount is almost relatively small, such as 5000 to tens of thousands of yen. Age seems to be wide from teens to 70s.

Why do you borrow money from strangers? I was able to talk to a man who was a temporary worker using inter-individual financing.

The man says he is borrowing money online to get his living expenses. The man says, “Looking for someone to lend on a bulletin board or Twitter and negotiating and borrowing money. There are some people who have finished the loan in about half a day. I think it is easy and easy.”

According to this man, if you write the reason, amount, account number, etc. you want to borrow money on the bulletin board, you will receive an email from the person you want to lend money.

If you negotiate interest and tell your name, address, financial institution's account number, etc., you say money will be transferred.

Loans are often completed online without meeting the lender. Is there any resistance to borrowing money from strangers?

The man replied, “There is some resistance, but this is desperate to borrow.”

Men say they have a debt-bearing past and cannot rely on regular money lenders, so they can only rely on personal loans.

Who is renting out?

What kind of person lends money? I interacted several times with the person "I lend money with interpersonal loans" and I actually met and heard the story.

A salaried man in a jacket appeared at the meeting place. He says he runs a beauty company in Tokyo.

When I asked about the reason for lending money with an inter-individual loan, he said, “I run a company, but the management is tight.” He regularly checks multiple bulletin boards and sees people who want to borrow money at work intervals.

The lenders are a wide range of ages from teens to 80s, and they say they have never unexpectedly recovered money.

The reason is as follows: “Listen to your name and address, check your photo ID, perform a street view on the spot, ask what color the wall is, and what the house looks like. Some people prepare loan documents, others record loan negotiations with video and audio. "

On top of that, the man actually meets and “examines” whether it is okay to lend money.

By lending only to people who seem to be able to trust, it is preventing “loan collapse”. Originally, it was illegal for individuals to lend money to multiple people without registering for “Money Lending”, but there was no clear answer to this point.

The bulletin board operator is "advertising revenue"

As I proceeded with the interview, I was able to hear the story of a man who was operating a bulletin board for inter-finance loans.

Men are regular office workers. He started managing bulletin boards for personal loans as a side job and earned money from the advertising income of money lenders on the site.

This man said, “Financial advertising has a high unit price, and advertising revenue per click is large. There seems to be a company that can pay hundreds of thousands for my site.”

In fact, there seems to be a lot of access to the bulletin board for interpersonal loans. When I wrote "I am interested in inter-individual financing", I received an email saying "I can lend" in a few minutes and exceeded 100 in an hour. Money lenders were paying attention to the number of accesses.

I was surprised that money lenders were advertising on bulletin boards for individuals that could be illegal.

What is “temporary loan”?

Some people get involved in crimes with interpersonal loans.

In June, a 36-year-old employee from Chihaya Akasaka Village, Osaka, was arrested for lending money to a woman at an interest rate exceeding the legal limit.

According to the police, this employee met a woman through an internet bulletin board and lent money, but demanded sexual consideration as a condition of the loan.

This practice is called “temporary lending”, and the damage to women who borrow money through personal loans is increasing. In fact, even if you look at the bulletin board for interpersonal loans, you will notice that “Is it okay for a moment?” Or “Can you do for a moment?”. “Temporary” is a slogan indicating sexual activity. Borrow money with sexual activity as collateral or substitute sexual activity for interest.

“Increased interest if you do not respond to sexual activity”

A woman who was damaged responded to the interview saying "I want to know the actual situation."

A woman who had a young child and was difficult to work at the time. He also said that he was unable to get living expenses from his husband due to domestic violence.

In order to obtain living expenses such as rents, I started to borrow money on the personal loan bulletin board introduced by my friend.

It was a "time" that was requested by most people to lend money. The woman says, “Generally, men give me e-mails, and more than 90% demanded sexual activity.”

This woman, who was mentally distressed, thought she had no choice but to get a loan. The request further escalates and is said to “increase interest as a penalty if it does not respond to sexual activity.” The total interest of about 1 million yen borrowed is said to have doubled to 2 million yen. The lender's man couldn't escape because he sent his family and friends' contacts and even naked photos of him, and had to pay interest.

The lender's man was a so-called “ordinary person” with office workers and wives working for a company in Tokyo.

Increasing number of consultations

According to the National Life Center, the number of consultations on interpersonal loans has increased since the beginning of this year, saying that if you borrowed 150,000 yen, it would cost you 4 million yen with interest. This means that we have received consultations such as "I paid a yen but I was unable to contact you after that."

Mr. Yosuke Shimoto, a judicial scrivener who is accepting consultations on loans between individuals, says that more than 50 consultations are received per month.

(Judicial scrivener Yosuke Shimoto)
“Mostly, there are many consultations saying“ I can't pay anymore because I've been billed for exorbitant interest ”and“ I've been mentally involved because of threats and harassment from the other party. ” This is because the amount of money that can be borrowed by the Money Lending Business Law revised in 2010 has been reduced to one-third of salary, so people who cannot be borrowed from regular money lenders are not flowing into individual loans. Is not it"

The Financial Services Agency began issuing advisory statements to inform people about the dangers and posting contact information for consultation.

Inter-individual loans have various dangers, such as being asked for unreasonable interest and releasing personal information. In fact, there are many cases of so-called “net dark money”.

If you are involved in trouble with an inter-individual loan, consult with the contact information published by the Financial Services Agency, judicial scriveners or lawyers.
